Fishing Industry (PoC)
Welcome to the Fishing Industry demo portal.
This demo portal is part of a Fishing Industry pilot in DAME project.
The technical implementation of the pilot leverages modern data-sharing technologies, including FIWARE Context Broker, to enable the capability for real-time data exchange.
The demo portal combines data from multiple sources:
- Järvikala application – data provided by a professional fisherman participating in the pilot.
- Open data sources selected based on a survey* conducted among commercial fishermen:
- Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE): Open API for surface water quality data (water sample measurements).
- Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke): Fish producer price statistics.
* The survey aimed to identify key challenges faced by commercial fishermen and explore how data usage and sharing could create added value for individual fishermen and the entire fishing industry sector.
Note: This demo is a Proof of Concept (PoC) implementation – developed in a short timeframe to demonstrate possibilities, not a finished product.
Future Development Opportunities
Current demo focuses on combining fishing data from Järvikala and open data sources. This demo could be further developed, for example, by utilizing IoT Agents for Real-Time Data Collection from sensors and other IoT Devices, QuantumLeap and CrateDB to store and analyze time-series data combined with Grafana to identify trends and actionable insights (advanced analytics and forecasting), Identity Management to enable safe and transparent data exchange between fishermen, first buyers, logistics providers, authorities etc., Marketplace integration to open new business models and creating added value for all participants to unlock the full potential of data. Real-time alerts and AI solutions could also be added, ensuring proactive risk management and maximizing the value of shared data for all stakeholders.
